Analysis No. 1

This is a creative and artistic piece of work that suggests through the tones and colours that it was done by watercolour, oil, or a tool with a similar texture. Although it can be seen as many different things like a person, or a scene, it is still abstract even though in a way it is representing things and people. The artwork uses colour, tone, texture, lines and shape very effectively and causes the picture to be light, but dark, soft, but strong and really stand out.

My last post was about our practical work in Abstract Art and senses. Seeing as we are also doing analysis of pictures, I am required to practice on my blog, so here are a few of my analysis of examples of Abstract Art.

We are starting to work on our prac pieces where we listen to music and draw what we hear. We have done the same thing with 'Practical Magic' many times over so when we listened to the love song from the movie Ghost, we knew what sort of things were expected from us:

  • Line
  • Tone
  • Shading
  • Colour
  • Texture
  • Shape

Paul Klee

Here is some of Paul Klee's art work, 'The Rose Garden' and 'Chessboard'. Notice, in the first one on the left, the contrasts, shades and tones, that blend in together, yet stand out in a bold way. The one on the right, entitled 'Chessboard', has a striking effect and seems sort of 3D in a way. The background resembles a chessboard, while there is a second layer which appears to be his interpritation of what he is seeing. The third picture in the middle I found whilst google-ing 'abstract', on http://www.mde-art.com/ It shows alot of the visual elements of tone, colour, shade and texture.

AbStRaCt ArT

In art we have been doing abstract drawings of things we have felt, smelt or tasted.
Abstract means non-representational. In other words, it isn't a drawing of something in particular, just lines, shapes, tones and textures. One of the abstract artists we have looked at is Paul Klee (pronounced Clay).

Art Lesson - Tues 18th March 2008

Today we looked at an interesting picture called 'The Car' by John Brack. The children are bored and the mother is enjoying herself. The father is focusing on driving.

I love the contrast.

Intelligence Quiz, PC and Results.

I eventually decided to use the sparkly theme, with a big loop on the side. It's really cool. As soon as my ART teacher hands them back, i'll take photos on a laptop so i can post them on this blog. Art (My PC)

It may not be my fave subject, but I love Art. I will soon be posting my three designs for a personal card (, like a business card, except you're the business,) or PC. I can't decide which one to use. One is a relaxed theme, one is a sparkly theme, and other is a loopy type of thing.
